We are probably being induced today? We just had the ultrasound. The carpet in this waiting room is brownish-yellow and the sectioned patterns don’t quite line up. We are ready. The lady who scanned our baby said it could be 9 lbs.

It seems like we have been pregnant so long that we’ve lost sense of time or sequential sense to the process. We found out we were pregnant at the end of January. There was still snow on the ground then.

All we saw on the ultrasound was the top of the head and the spine. We closed our eyes when she measured any part that could have been near the genitalia. My wife thinks we’re having a girl; I think we’re having a boy.

It’s one of those things – it doesn’t matter in the end.

This is an exciting time but we haven’t been getting much sleep and we probably won’t be getting much more anytime soon.

Update: we are being induced. We’re sitting in the hospital room. Waiting. There’s a monitor checking wife’s contractions and baby’s heartbeat.

The nurse said this gel could take 12 hours to take effect and get contractions going. I’m going to order wife a chicken salad sandwich from the cafeteria.

It’s going to be a long day.

    1. I wondered about that too! Times change. It make me think of which way you lay a baby down to sleep–tummy or back. That was emphatically one way when I had my kids and the opposite when my grandkids were born.
