Christmas is always an interesting time because, is it ever like it is in the movies? No other holiday or specific time of year is reinforced with such a cultural artifice. How are we supposed to live lives in congruence with a set of expectations codified by Hollywood?
What would our world look like at Christmas if instead of watching movies about the thing we just did the thing?
My brother showed me a video about how bad it is for people to sit. Sitting for long periods of time isn’t good for you, it screws up your muscles, organs, etc., and even if you work out regularly it still has a deleterious effect. I sit a lot at my job. That freaks me out.
Speaking of sitting, I sat most of today even though I was off work. Wife and I binge-watched Cheers, did loads of laundry, and played with Beckett.
Tomorrow is her first day back to work since having Beckett. She’ll be working Mondays and Tuesdays. She is not excited. In fact, she is feeling very sad about it. That’s hard for me to watch because I don’t like seeing my girl sad. I’d like to make more money so she didn’t have to worry about it. At least tomorrow I’m off work so I get to be home with Beckett which lessens her emotional load, etc.
