I sometimes think I am an overthinker. Ha! Get it?
That is, I find solace when my conscious mind can render what it thinks in explainable terms to itself. It puts me at ease when my brain is one step ahead of my gut.
What is frustrating about this is sometimes the gut is smarter than the head. Not always. Sometimes the gut goes way wrong. But in those critical moments where everything hangs in the balance, you cannot always sit down with a calculator, and I think it’s a good thing we can’t always because it forces us to listen to a more basic instinct.
That’s one frustrating thing about being a reader: you develop this catalog of things that famous smart people have said that sometimes is super helpful and other times gets in the way of what you really think.
Been thinking about this today. Ha!
